Looking for a dog-friendly place for your furry friend to swim in Kelowna, BC?
The beautiful Okanagan is full of regional parks, walking trails, and beaches, but since not all of them allow dogs, we’ve rounded up the best off-leash beaches in Kelowna and West Kelowna.
Kelowna’s dog parks and dog beaches are open from 6am and 10pm.
Please know that if your pet comes into contact with wild animals (including ducks) outside of an off-leash dog park, you may face a fine of $345 under the BC Wildlife Act - so make sure you play nice and stay inside the designated dog park boundaries.

1. Cedar Creek Park - The Best Kelowna Dog Beach
Located off the beaten path at 5205 Lakeshore Rd, Cedar Creek is the biggest dog beach in Kelowna with hiking trails and gorgeous views of the mountains and Okanagan Lake.
With a long waterfront and a spacious off-leash field, your four legged friend can run, bark, and make new pals all day.
Bring good footwear because the beach area is quite rocky.

2. Gellatly Dog Beach, West Kelowna
Gellatly Dog Beach waterfront park has a sandy beach that’s divided into separate leash on and leash off sections.
There’s free parking, picnic tables, washroom facilities, and doggie bags to keep the park pristine.
Parking is located on Gellatly Rd near Boucherie Rd in West Kelowna, BC - 5 minutes drive from dog-friendly fruit stands, ice cream stands, and great restaurants.

3. Poplar Point Off Leash Dog Beach
Located immediately North of Sutherland Bay Park at 589 Poplar Point Dr, this sandy waterfront park has a fenced off area for dogs, and a wedge of shade from the on site willow tree. Please know that dogs are only allowed to swim within the fenced area at Poplar Point. The rest of Poplar Point is not a dog beach and bylaw tickets may be issued by the City of Kelowna.

4. Bear Creek Provincial Park Dog Beach
The north side of Bear Creek Park’s beach is a lesser-known off leash area with plenty of room for dogs to chase ducks or prance across the log booms.
Bear Creek’s dog zone is a great place to visit after hiking the nearby trail network in Bear Creek Park or if you’re staying at the campsite.

5. 117 Lake Avenue Beach Access
Known by locals as “mushroom beach,” this sandy waterfront park has plenty of space for dogs to play and ample shade from the weeping willows.
117 Lake Avenue Beach Access is an off-leash dog park located next to Kelowna City Park and the William Bennett Bridge. To get there, take the underground pedestrian and bike tunnel via City Park.
This is a popular park space for locals - with and without dogs - and gets quite busy some evenings.

6. Downtown Sails Dog Beach
The Downtown Sails Dog area is a tiny waterfront park located between City Park and the Yacht Club, right next to the Kelowna Sails statue.
There’s not much roaming space, but it’s the only place for your pooch to swim downtown besides Lake Avenue. Designated off-leash hours are posted on site.
A few restaurants and coffee shops on Bernard Avenue like the Bean Scene have doggy drinking bowls and dog-friendly outdoor patios.
